Study Tours

1. When will I visit Bond University?

All students will attend two Study Tours at Bond University. The first is approximately one year after you start the program and the second at the end of your program. This may be different for students who choose to complete subjects more slowly however. Here is a tentative outline of the two on-campus sessions:

Study Tour One

  • Effective Negotiation
  • Business Planning for Entrepreneurial Ventures - Workshop
  • Effective Oral Presentation Skills Workshop
  • Team Building Workshop
  • Library Orientation Workshop

Study Tour Two

  • Controllership
  • Cross cultural Management
  • Business Planning for Entrepreneurial Ventures - Presentation

2. Why Are Some Subjects Taught On Campus

Some subjects, because of their content or requirements, are easier for students to learn in a dynamic classroom environment. With all on-campus sessions you can expect to be actively involved in the sessions through debates, discussions, presentations or interactive group work. These subjects have been selected as part of the Study Tour sessions because you will gain much greater benefit from doing them ‘face-to-face’ with your colleagues and professors. The interaction and personal feedback you will receive during subjects like Effective Negotiating will make the on-campus visits more effective learning experiences.

3. What subjects do I need to complete before coming for the Study Tour?

During the Study Tours you will expand and develop skills that you have already developed through subjects taken before the tour. Therefore, students should successfully complete all the required subjects that are offered prior to attending the Study Tour. For Study Tour 1, this includes the following Module One subjects:

  • ENFB70-200 The Entrepreneurial Process
  • ACCT71-500 Accounting

Special requests to attend the study tour without completing all subjects will be considered in certain circumstances.

4. Will I have time for sightseeing during the Study Tour?

The Study Tour sessions are very intensive and will require considerable work, with only a very limited time for excursions and sightseeing. However, you may choose to extend your stay on the Gold Coast after the Study Tour period has finished. This will give you more time to explore the beaches and rainforests of the Gold Coast.

6. Where will I stay when I go to the Gold Coast?

Your accommodation and transport details will be organised by Business Breakthrough in Japan. You can expect to stay at a four-star hotel close to all facilities and close to Surfers Paradise beaches and waterways. Most students will be in shared accommodation unless you request otherwise. Your hotel will contain all the equipment you need to study, including access to a PC and Internet connection.

Alternatively, you will have an option to organise your accommodation in Student Residences on Bond University campus.

The Study Tour fees will cover the following:

  • Refreshments (morning and afternoon teas, functions)

8. What type of visa will I need when I go to Australia?

Because you are studying for less than three months, you will only need a Visitor Visa, rather than a Student Visa. You must make sure you have organised the appropriate paperwork in time for your first visit to Bond. Business Breakthrough’s contracted travel agent will advise you on your visa requirements. If you decide to study full-time at Bond University you will require a Student Visa. The length of time for approving student visas varies, but it can take up to two weeks. It is important to have all the relevant documents ready when you apply for your visa. These documents should include an offer letter from Bond University and a Confirmation of Enrolment form. You usually need to pay for your subject prior to lodging your visa application.
